Work History

Au pair

06.2023 - 12.2023
  • I au paired when first arriving in Sydney, and it is a job that comes with real trust
  • I was able to be there consistently for the family to rely on and use many skills such as organisation and initative to succeed in my role
  • I built a great relationship with the family and loved the variety of activities I got up to
  • This job also required me to be flexible to work around the families needs.

Bartender - The Smokin' Fox

01.2023 - 06.2023
  • Prior to heading over to Australia I worked in a Bar in Glasgow, I loved this job particularly building great relationships with my colleagues
  • The job required great knowledge of the product, great customer service skills and patience (as I am sure you know dealing with people after a few drinks can get tricky)
  • It really helped with my ability to work under pressure getting through lots of busy weekends
  • We also served food so at times I would help running and clearing tables, the variety of tasks kept me busy and learning lots of new skills on the job.

Store Assistant/ Responsible Colleague at Sainsburys

05.2022 - 05.2023
  • After just four months in the store, I was offered a promotion to a 'responsible colleague' meaning I got my own set of keys to the store and was able to open, close, cash up and keep the store open without a manager present
  • Working in a local store, I have managed a variety of tasks every shift, between stacking shelves, working tills and collecting Argos orders
  • I am constantly on my feet
  • It has allowed me to once again improve my customer service skills
  • Working in a small store I have really enjoyed getting to know all the regular customers and creating relationships with all members of the staff team.

Chaperone and Assistant for 'Matilda the Musical' and 'High School musical' at The Brunton Theatre

Brunton Theatre
08.2021 - 08.2022
  • In an intense two week production (first in August 2021, then again in 2022) I supported theatrical professionals to put on a children's musical as part of the Edinburgh Fringe festival
  • During both productions, I was solely responsible for around 30 children at a time
  • Making sure they were where they needed to be, while ensuring all their needs were met physically and mentally
  • We had many children with learning difficulties as well as those with challenging home lives, so it was really vital to ensure they all had the best experience possible and that it catered towards them each individually
  • It was such a rewarding experience, building relationships and trust with the children was so vital in both mine and their experience
  • As well as working with the children I was also assisting the production team throughout
  • Every day before and after the children were at the theatre, I was either in meetings with the team or collecting equipment/set, taking videos and pictures for the promotion of the show and often doing the simple things like lunch or coffee runs, to ensure everything was organised for the days ahead so we were able to stick to our tight schedule.

Store Picker at ASDA

09.2020 - 09.2021
  • Throughout the pandemic I worked hard to ensure customers received their orders to the best possible standard
  • This required me to be on my feet all day, pushing a big trolley filled with baskets and collecting the correct items (sometimes requiring substitutes to be picked) and keeping to strict targets
  • In this job I was constantly on the shop floor, and so it also required constant interaction with customers, as well as knowledge of the store's layout and location of specific items.

Party Assistant

12.2018 - 03.2020
  • During my latter years of school, roughly once a month, I helped at children's parties, assisting in setting and tidying up and helping to run activities and games
  • This job has helped me to develop my abilities to work in a team, and in turn, gain good communication skills
  • I have loved this experience and despite proving challenging at times, I have found working with children very rewarding.

Receptionist/Sales Assistant at Grace Notes

11.2017 - 06.2019
  • While in my early years of high school, I worked one or two shifts a week (or sometimes fortnightly) at a local music shop as a receptionist/sales assistant
  • My work here included serving customers in store and on the phone, taking money for pupils' music lessons (including working a till), organising products and filling in stock lists and timetables
  • My time in this role helped me with both my customer service and time management skills.

Hobbies

I have enjoyed playing a range of sports growing up which has really enhanced my passion for sport and hence brought me here to apply for a job in the field. Such sports include; diving, swimming, gymnastics, basketball, hockey, netball and football and as well as taking lessons/playing said sports I have also dedicated a lot of time to watching them when I have the opportunity. From watching my local team as a youngster to most recently travelling to Australia for the Women's world cup, football is a particular passion of mine. As a young women myself, most of my focus tends to be directed towards women's sport and it has been incredible to see its huge success in the last few years in all areas, particularly so in football after the success of the Lionesses at the 2022 Euros and the World cup this year.
