As a Senior Economic Development Officer currently serving in an acting capacity within the Commercial Services role at Moira Shire, I bring two decades of experience in Local Government including Community Development, Tourism, Marketing Communications and Arts and Culture.
For the past five years, I have effectively led a small team, honing my skills in relationship building and fostering a positive leadership environment.
I am eager to take on new challenges in a dynamic role that allows me to leverage my expertise in economic development. I believe in the power of empowerment as a catalyst for growth, both for teams and organizations. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute my unique perspective and innovative approach as an Economic Development Manager, driving initiatives that align with the organization’s vision and goals.
In my role as Arts and Culture Officer, I was responsible for organizing events and art programs that engaged and empowered the community, fostering capacity building and active participation. I supported regional artists by facilitating funding opportunities and training programs, ensuring they have the resources needed to thrive.
I managed a variety of youth arts and development projects, including initiatives like "In the Bin," as well as cultural experiences for the community, such as the Celtic Music Festival, Harmony Day, and community carols. Through these efforts, I aimed to enrich our cultural landscape and promote inclusivity, creativity, and collaboration.
Additionally, I placed a strong emphasis on Indigenous culture, collaborating with the Yorta Yorta on the Thompsons Beach Master Plan Project and serving as a tour guide at the Barmah Heritage Education Centre. These experiences allowed me to deepen community connections and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the region. I was also fortunate to play a role in developing the first Arts Board for Moira Shire called MAC INC.
