As a retail manager for Coles, I was responsible for running and handling a team that was made up of 10 team members. My role as a retail manager was to manage a fresh produce department. This included a lot of physical work. Most of the stock we handled weighed more than 10 kgs. I was also in control of maintaining reports and ensuring that my department was up to par. Attention to detail was also a part of my role to ensure customer satisfaction. I worked with a great team to run a great department, hitting sales of 180 weekly. We focused primarily on certain goals, and achieved them as a team. I ensured my team was under control, customers were satisfied, and my department was tidied up every day, paying attention to potential opportunities. In most cases, I was also a big helping hand for my store support manager and store manager. Safety was a major role. Ensuring team members are working as safely as possible, reducing and minimising risks, and ensuring customers are safe.

I was involved with a team working in a fast-paced environment. I learned how to manage my time very well, as well as understanding how to multitask in order to be as efficient as possible. I worked primarily in the back, but I was the strongest team member. I worked to coach a few team members and handle a majority of the workload. I understood the importance of safety standards as well as food handling standards.
