Lucy Morgan

Summary

I am a current third year nursing student studying a Bachelor of Nursing at Charles Sturt University and will be graduated in June 2024. I have worked as an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) in aged care for the last three years. I have gained a solid understanding of the role as Registered Nurse , who works in interdisciplinary environments and develop excellent clinical and communication skills. I am organised and dependable nurse successful at managing multiple priorities with a positive attitude.


I am a hard working team member who prides herself on developing her nursing skills in line with evidence based practice and I am well aware of my scope as a new to graduate nurse and I am enthusiastically looking forward to commencing my RN career and providing excellent patient care.

  • I have had opportunities to work alongside anaesthetic nurses in operating theatres and see the importance of the job they do
  • By being given the opportunity to be in operating theatres it gave me a an understanding of why the patient is feeling the pain they are when thy wake in recovery
  • I have managed to help maintain airways to patients who have needed extra support with either chin lift or jaw thrusts
  • I have been given the opportunity to experience ECT and be involved in getting the patient ready and applying gas /oxygen to the patient

  • Busy medical ward, I was buddied with a RN, and I improved my time management skills and focused on prioritising patient care, I was also given the opportunity to take on a 2 patient case load
  • I was able to gain knowledge from an array of different nurses While I did not get to escalate any patient care or attend any MET calls, I learnt more about falls prevention and post fall management I gained experience in wound management and aseptic techniques and learnt about different dressings
  • In supervision by an RN, I competently hung and connected intravenous fluids, gave intravenous medications
  • While being watched by an RN, I practiced my skills of intra and intermuscular injections
  • Wounds- diabetic foot ulcers, Worked with patients that were suffering from disorientation
