Advanced Scaffolder / Rigger

MAERSK – Inpex Drilling MODU Offshore Rig
Oct 2018 – Oct 2023

  • Worked offshore on a MODU (Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit) as Leading Hand, overseeing daily rigging and scaffolding operations in a high-risk LNG drilling environment.
  • Coordinated advanced rigging tasks involving reading isometric drawings , heavy lifts of structural and mechanical components, including skids, pipe spools, electrical modules, and pre-fabricated frames using pedestal cranes and rig-mounted lifting equipment.
  • Conducted critical lift planning, risk assessments, and isolations in compliance with the permit-to-work system and offshore safety regulations (IMCA, NOPSEMA).
  • Performed rigging gear inspections and ensured all lifting equipment (shackles, chain blocks, synthetic slings, wire ropes, spreader bars) were certified and properly tagged.
  • Installed and aligned structural steel elements—beams, columns, gratings, stairs—using swivel hoist rings (pinkies), eye bolts, and correct sling angles, while applying reeving techniques for load balancing.
  • Utilized come-alongs, lever hoists, and chain blocks to fine-position loads in tight access areas or under load tension.
  • Built and maintained complex tube-and-clip and modular scaffolds, including cantilevered and suspended systems, in confined spaces and at height over open decks and live pipe racks.
