Alongside my full time job, I also do my own work on the side when I have spare time. Quoting clients directly and executing jobs from start to finish, ranging from bathroom/kitchen renovations, outdoor areas, decks, pergolas, retaining walls and frames-fixes.
Over the last year I have also been working periodically with Rene from yarragroup plumbing, assisting his business with bathroom renovations. He has had me quote and execute the carpentry side of the jobs in liaison with him and the clients.
Joined a mate who stared out his own construction company as 2IC/leading hand carpenter on residential new homes and extension/renovations.
Through my time at the company my responsibilities also included training an apprentice to become a qualified carpenter, as well as training multiple labourers carpentry skills who helped out on the side.
I helped run the carpentry side of building projects and made sure everything was done correctly and to a high standard.
Picking up from where I left off after returning home from London.
I was a carpentry member of a maintenance crew for a bar and hostel group. My day to day tasks involved travelling between the different sites and fixing issues such as broken doors, chairs, holes in walls, remodeling of dorm rooms, anything bar and hostel related.
During this time I was on a working holiday visa, so I chose a job that was pretty cruisey and allowed for flexibility to travel while living in London.
Went out as fresh qualified carpenter to subcontract.
Built residential new homes, renovations/ extensions with a small team of 2 qualified carpenters, an apprentice and the builder.
Continued to learn the trade and build on skills in the field, gaining more licences to go at tasks independently.
Worked alongside a builder and a subcontractor learning and implementing carpentry skills on residential buildings. New homes, extensions/renovations, decks/pagolas ect.
We did everything from site set out all the way through to final clean and key hand over to clients.
I got taught outside of trade skills such and basic plumbing, electrical, plastering, tiling and excavator and bobcat operating.
Became a qualified carpenter August 2013 at age 20
