Working in the heavy industrial side of industry as FIFO/DIDO Electrician

- Drilling Rigs (Gas) Involved in both maintenance and project roles in drilling rig environments, as well as in mill and feedlot operations and large-scale installations.

- Motors and running gear, experience working with motors, augers, and conveyors, often controlled via PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers).

- Instrumentation maintenance and install, including tank senders, radar, load cell systems, flow meters, and communication setups for scanners along with incorporation and modification into plc.

- Generator Installation, Maintenance, and Repair, skilled in installing, maintaining, and repairing generators.

- Hazardous Area Work, extensive experience on gas drilling rigs, petroleum sites, and silo environments, covering everything from control panel maintenance to on-rig breakdowns and repairs.

- Pump Systems and water treatment with related equipment, such as standalone generators and soft starters maintenance and breakdown's.

- Solar systems and Inverters, maintaining and repairing large grid-tied solar setups and inverters.

- PLC Work, primarily focused on Allen-Bradley PLCs, including adjustments to existing programs.

- VFD Installation and Integration, installation, setup, and integration of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) into PLC systems.

- Boiler Maintenance and Repair, maintaining and repairing gas-fired boilers, including their control panels and instrumentation.

- Roller Mill Maintenance and Repairs, maintaining large roller mills, including associated conveyors, augers, and rollers.

Working on a range of projects, from on-land industrial installations to marine vessels, including high-end luxury super yachts, bulk carriers, and barges.

- Heavy use of DC systems, including lithium battery systems, solar, inverter/charger systems, and control mechanisms.

- Managing projects in a leading hand or supervisor role during a 50-meter motor yacht engine room refit. And also running a 19m Cat new build from start to finish (wiring and fit off with associated design and engineering)

- Working on generators, including new installations, wiring, testing, tuning AVR cards, bus tie systems, and other control-related tasks.

- Experience with PLC systems and logic control.

- Installation and maintenance of pumps and motors.

- Cable laying and support system installation.

- Electrical engineering and drawing of systems on vessels, including fault finding and modifying existing diagrams/schematics.

- Preventative maintenance of plant and equipment, including thermal imaging, cathodic protection testing, frequency testing on generator sets, and supply systems onboard vessels.

- Quoting jobs, including variations and entirely new projects.

- Leading teams of up to six people, including software engineers, electricians, and apprentices.

Working on petroleum sites in hazardous areas, confined spaces, and at heights, the majority of my work was on Caltex Australia-owned sites.

- Developed underground petroleum systems from the ground up through to site commissioning and handover.- Laid cables and pipework underground, including heavy use of electrical ducting in trenches.

- Worked on a FIFO or DIDO basis for up to three weeks at a time on sites around New Zealand.

- Installed, maintained, or repaired electrical wiring, equipment, and lighting fixtures in ceilings, on roofs, and on towers, focusing on commercial and industrial-based work. This work often involved using scaffolds and lifts.

- Installed and wired service panels and control boards, including UPS systems and both AC and DC wiring systems.

- Installed, maintained, repaired, and tested equipment for electricity conveyance and utilisation, often working on large distribution boards in factory environments, including cool rooms and freezers.

- Planned the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on specifications and applicable codes, including hazardous area standards.

- Collaborated in teams on large projects and maintenance roles within the company.

- Maintained a strong emphasis on safety in this role, specifically in hazardous area, safety equipment use like gas detectors and PPE, such as overalls and hard hats, was essential.

- Isolated plant and equipment on sites, maintaining strict registers for these isolations.

- Communicated with other trades and clients to work around and within desired time frames and shutdown periods.
