I started working at Holts Volts when i was a second year apprentice. Throughout my time at Holts Volts I've learnt to interact with customers and explain the process of electrical works throughout the job until completed. During my time at Holts Volts I was the only apprentice/trades person so I had to be reliable and be a quick learner which I believe i did quite well. During my 2nd and 3rd year of being an apprentice I also worked behind a bar on weekends at the local pub.
I started working at the Buffalo Hotel in Myrtleford when i moved to Melbourne after my fist year of my apprenticeship. My hometown (Myrtleford) was 3.5 hours away from Melbourne but I was always eager to come home on weekends and ended up working most Saturday nights and a few Sundays. The Buffalo Hotel is a medium size pub and mainly served beer, wine and spirits. I enjoyed my time working there particularly on Saturdays when it was busy and seeing everyone out and about.
I started my electrical apprenticeship in a place called Nelson Bay just north of Sydney. I moved there when I was 19 just to experience something a little different. During my time as an apprentice electrician I worked behind 2 different bars, both very much the same. My first bar i worked at was called the Anna Bay Tavern in Anna Bay and the second bar was called the Game Fish Club in Shoal Bay. Both pubs were mainly filled with elderly people who were locals of the area, although i was searching for a pub that attracted more of the younger aged people, I moved there in the dead season so i didn't have many options. I still very much enjoyed my time at both of them and listening to the stories that the elders had to offer.
I am very lucky to call Myrtleford my hometown. I grew up on a farm of 200 acres with bushland right behind us. I started riding motorbikes when I was 6 years old and still do regularly with a heap of mates around town. Not only are we surrounded by bushland that we can adventure on, we have a lake only 20 minutes from home, an hour and a half away from Mt, Hotham which snows in the winter and half an hour away from a well know mountain called Mystic Hill in Bright that is full of mountain bike tracks.
