Maintenance of bearings, conveyor belts gearbox’s and grease lines and shredder on the plants, manufacturing, repairing and altering bins, hardfacing shredder weekly. Making new components for upgrades on the plant. Working with health and safety as number one priority.

Changing and Welding hardox floor plates in, changing piston seals, hydraulic rams, shears, maintaining and changing digger hoses, welding hard face welding wire to holding blocks. General maintaining to most scrapyard balers , including brands such as lefort, vezzani, Italmek.

• Fabricating pressure vessels from start to finish, getting a cut plate thats rolled in various sizes, using sub arc to weld the seams in mild steel and mig in the stainless, making all the pipework required for the job, using TIG and MIG techniques to a coded standard.

• Following my apprenticeship with winder power I was offered a job at a sheet metal fabrication firm called Metalcraft which was a new challenge in my career
• I learned many new things while been here ranging from fabricating ducting to gantries and stairs, with various different materials e.g
• Stainless steel,mild steel,aluminium
• Using the Welding processes mig/mag, tig/tag, and mma
• During my time at the company I have also done quite a lot of site work at many companies within the food and drink industry, with 2 inch stainless hygiene pipe been most of the repairs or fabrications with the sector
• Also repairs to various machinery Aswell as installation, notably installing an air conditioning system for trinity shopping centre in Leeds.

• I wanted to gain more experience with different welding and fabrication within the industry as a job was coming up at Byworth so I came here
• Day to day duties include making up combustion chambers, furnace sections and steam manifolds
• From prepping the material to fully welded to a coded standard, I also used submerged arc to join the boiler shells
• All the welding is to a coded standard and is scanned using the NDT method of ultrasonic testing, I have also worked in the fabrication department making up smoke boxes, boiler doors, door hinges, brackets etc.

• I started off as a fitter in the transformer side of the company which involved reading technical drawings, fitting general components to a blank transformer tank ranging from 1-60 ton, also Involves getting a transformer core and dropping it tank and wiring it up and making copper links to attach to HV and LV boxes
• I also do the shotblasting for the company when required
• In hopes to expand my skill set I moved to the other side of company called Newton derby which manufactures generators, I learned how to build up the core packs for the different types of generators
• Which involves putting laminations on a mandrel making sure they are perpendicular and either bolting them up or welding them, I am coded for the requirements for our customers which included GE, ABB, Parsons Peebles and Knorr Bremse which are for the London Underground
• I also do light fabrication jobs for newton derby making lifting equipment, casings, fan guards and cages.

• Picking out orders for customers and for delivery, General stock rotation, Waste control of old stock, Arranging and unloading of delivery on a counter balance fork truck

• Window cleaning, gutter cleaning, upvc cleaning

• Making up job squares for welders and fitters, Stock rotation and count, Unloading and loading of delivery on a counter balance fork truck

• Labouring on multiple trades within the company, bricklayers, electricians, plumbers, roofers, providing help in any aspect needed.
