Proven to excel in fast-paced environments, I significantly reduced delivery times by optimizing routes at Domino's Pizza, showcasing my problem-solving skills and efficiency. My continued part time work with Ken Stapletion in farming, and Alex Packer in electirical installations, has enhanced my ability to quickly learn, adapt and problem solve. Especially on a farm where improvising is an essential part of any job.
When needed, I assist both my electrician cousins and uncle on family and friend jobs. This has given me a great understanding of what is involved as an electrician and although I did this very well, I realised it was not the trade for me (we don't need a fourth in the family). I do however, continue to assist when asked and enjoy it.
My grandfather owns his own property and also manages several other farms for city dwellers. On most school holidays I stay with my grandparents to help my grandfather with his work and learn what I can from him.
Since moving 5 years ago to Brisbane, I now fly to Sydney and catch a train there and back to do this.
*Push bike delivery of Pizzas with timed KPAs.
I effectively reduced my delivery times by planning and optimizing my routes. By setting myself personal fitness goals, I was able to ride faster, cutting my times down and becoming the fastest rider significantly.
*Handling money, taking customer orders and customer conflict resolution and store closing.
Knowing how to engage with different types of people assisted me in developing a good customer satisfaction base. There were also occasions where my ability to have a level head and composure were needed with violent and abusive customers in order to deescalate situations. I was soon trusted to assist with store closing.
*Kitchen clean up, food preparation and cooking.
Although my job description and role was initially as a delivery rider, from day one I rolled up my sleeves and assisted with washing up and cleaning as they were extremely busy. Gradually I became an all rounder in the store.
*Teamwork.
I enjoy working as a team member in store, but also have the benefit of independence with delivery and customer service to homes, I found my owner manager to be understanding and hard working and was lucky enough to have him take me under his wing in the early days to help guide me.
During my school holidays I volunteered to work at Roseville Plumbing in Sydney for a week. My sister works there as a plumber and we thought it would be a great way to see if that trade was something I wanted to do.
The company, and most importantly my OCD sister, were impressed with my hard work ethic and ability to be proactive with handing tools and assisting.
I gained valuable experience to realise that although I enjoyed it, this was not the trade path for me.
