Buying, selling and recycling timber pallets

this job involved skill of nail guns grinders and power saws. also very regular use of forklifts on site

as part of this job it required us to work in teams of 2 constantly rotating between work partners and different pallet types on the go

this was a more commercial type job building fences across SEQ for SEQ water and National parks

Involved in these jobs we travels and worked away from home for weeks at a time in some locations in groups of 4-6 workers at once

working in high sensitive areas like stradbroke island and indigenous community's also with seq water around dams and water treatment plants

skills and tasks in this job involved

welding steal gates and installing

hand building fence lines in easy and mountainous terrain with common hand and power tools working in unison with co workers at distance using hand signals an radio communications

driving large machines like bob cats and vermers with multiple different attachments

This was my own company operated business

while working for myself and subcontracting to fellow plastering companies as well

in this period of works i worked with and along side very large and well know companies

building highrise residential and commercial projects

fire and ambulance stations

tindall RAAF base

completed insurance works across seq

even the current home for my parents

unfortunately my love for the trade of plastering out grew and as why i closed up in search of chasing my passion and moving into part time jobs like fencing and carpentry

with scooter group i started my apprenticeship straight out of school and moved out of home to live in brisbane

I did 4 years of my apprenticeship completing my cert 3 in wall and ceiling linings in doing so earning the achevment of the apprentice of year award out of 60-70 contenders at that time.

I worked on some of brisbanes most well know highrise buildings

projects like

skytower

commbank tower (finishing forman) + 2 years on the same site

Boq tower

gasworks retirement center (2nd site forman)

and countless other huge projects in the CBD of brisbane

while also doing my apprenticeship in the last year i took on a roll as a site forman this role provided me with knowledge of running a job site with at any time 100 poeple from the same company on site with the company holding at the time 80 apprentices and 500-600 tradesmen employed

part of this job taught me the high risk of working above voids and on the edge of buildings upto 90 stories in the sky

and using hoists cranes and lifts to do these tasks

this was a in school based job i had for weekends and school holidays

the job was local yard maintenance mowing and gardening with the occasional retaining walls
