My previous employment and voluntary work has allowed me to gain experience in areas involving the care of children of all ages, maintaining and fostering relationships with parents and families, management of companion animals and livestock and working with people of a variety of ages and backgrounds.
This included positions as an educator in a childcare setting, an education assistant in a K-12 school, a farmhand and administrative assistant at Kossie's Free Range Eggs.
I have completed a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care and a Certificate II in Animal Studies.
I spent a summer working in the USA, learning to adapt in a new location whilst living and working with people from all over the world. This valuable experience helped develop my confidence and independence.
This position has allowed me to develop both administrative and domestic cleaning skills. As part of this role I assist with the checking in and transactions between customers. My primary role is to maintain the cleanliness of rooms and units within the establishment. This has significantly improved my attention to detail, and overall housekeeping skills.
As a graduate of the Animal Studies course in 2017, I assist with the smooth running of Animal Studies Certificate II classes.
Responsibilities include:
- Animal supervision & care
- Assisting students with their learning
- Building rapport with students
- General administrative tasks to assist the trainer
During the American summer this year I worked as a Camp Counsellor with children aged 4-14, along with other camp staff of over 50 employees.
Tasks involved writing lesson plans, participating in team meetings and appraisal, kitchen duties, overnight cabin monitoring and the running of daily camp activities in a variety of areas such as animal care, fun in the forest (junior hiking) and other ball sports.
Individual responsibilities included care for my cabin group of girls. Tasks ranged from general care, room organisation, conflict resolution, anxiety and stress monitoring, homesickness coaching and wellbeing of children with special needs including diabetes.
This job incorporates various facets such as my animal husbandry skills, maintenance skills, manual labor and careful & precise handling of eggs and livestock.
My roles include:
- Delivery van driver
- Collecting thousands of eggs at multiple farm locations independently
- Egg grading and packaging
- Cleaning of workplace areas
- Responsibility of overseeing entire farms whilst managers were away
- Strong teamwork skills
As a part of studying my Certificate II in Animal Studies, I completed my placement hours by volunteering at an animal shelter known as GAWS in Geelong.
As a part of this experience I:
- Worked within the 'Lost Cats' section
- Was responsible for feeding and watering animals
- Cleaning enclosures and surrounding facilities
During weekends and school holidays whilst staying in country Victoria I spent some time volunteering for the local respite program for children with disabilities.
As a part of this experience I attended various excursions with other hospital workers and assisted them during the day.
At Family Pet & Aquarium in Grovedale I was a Pet Shop Attendant During Work Experience for my first week of experience in a workplace.
This job required:
- Extensive store cleaning
- Restocking and reorganising shelves
- Feeding animals within the store
- Answering customer questions
Along with horse riding lessons, I began studying a course in Stablehand and Assisting Instructing at Saddle On Riding School in Lara.
As a part of this experience I attended the school for both theory and practical components, some of these tasks include:
- Maintained saddles, bridles and riding gear and helped fit them to specific horses
- Raked, mucked and swept stables
- Administered horse medication and necessary special care
- Fed, groomed and gave horses to their riders daily
- Prepared horses for their lessons
This experience was both educational and enjoyable.
I acquired two certificates in these few months by the age of 13.
