Clinical Placements

  • Graylands Hospital, Mental Health, 2 weeks, 01/2020, Involved in the care for patients with stable and severe mental illness'. I routinely monitored their mental state through observance and examination, efficiently responding to deteriorations with the ability to deescalate pressured situations.
  • Armadale Hospital, Surgical, 4 weeks, 12/2019, Involved in the care for patients recovering from a wide range of general and complex procedures. I maintained a patient load of 4 gaining baseline observations, recognizing and responding to clinical deterioration, managing the care of their catheters and surgical drains as well as the adherence to charted medications. I adapted to changing situations within my nursing environment, administering oxygen prescribed by doctors, performed ECGs to ensure sinus rhythm, as well as constant reassurance to my patients.
  • Bentley Hospital, Theatre, 2 weeks, 11/2019, Provided care prior, during and post surgery. I was involved with airway management, medication administration, patient mobility as well as physical supportive measures during surgery, maximizing patient comfort.

  • Fremantle Surf Lifesaving Club, Volunteer Lifeguard - 10/2016 - 02/2017.

When saving a life I maintained the ability to remain calm and respond quickly in an emergency. Through the delivery of beneficial life-saving CPR and first aid I provided the community reassurance that their safety was my best interest. Communicating with efficiency to the public as well as my fellow volunteer lifeguards. This involved actively listening, role delegation, decision making, as well as a bunch of leadership skills. As a lifeguard it is my duty of care to provide the best possible protection and safety to the public, by involving my skills I positively improved the level of teamwork and cooperation needed for this role.

  • St Hendrikus School, Volunteer, 12/2016, 12/2016, Provided teaching to young Indonesian children basic English language and skills. It was challenging using my second language to teach English to young children however, through my clear and effective communication skills of another language I successfully taught how to form a basic sentence reaping the rewards of the grateful kids. Immersed myself into the diverse Indonesian culture, learning the practices and understanding the rituals. This involved performing a well known dance, dressed in traditional attire to thank the school for the amazing learning experience. This resulted in an advanced conscientious ability to accept all cultures and backgrounds and respect decisions and values of others.
