• Key Responsibilities
• Ø Provide technical support for planning and performance monitoring of theCouncil owned and operated Wastewater, Recycled Water and bore water schemes.
• Ø Development and regular review and update of master plans for each of the development areas and townships
• Ø Provide high level technical advice, when requested, in relation to wastewater and recycled water asset operations and maintenance including trade waste management.
• Ø Undertake analysis and reporting to support performance monitoring including ensuring the Wastewater Service’s legislative obligations are being met
• Ø Reliability engineering and reliability analysis for Wastewater Service assets
• Ø Provide subject matter expertise, as required, in regard to, but not limited to, technical specifications, design, construction and commissioning of new and replacement wastewater and recycled water infrastructure delivered by the Wastewater Service and others, including developers.
• Ø Provide engineering advice, as requested, on wastewater and recycled water matters relating to development and trade waste applications
• Ø Support development of operational budget and project estimates
• Ø Attend to general enquiries and correspondence as directed.
• Ø Develop, review and maintain risk management plans for all Wastewater Service recycled water schemes and operations

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the operational oversight of Council's Community Wastewater Management Scheme (CWMS), including the strategic execution of Asset Management Plans.
• Undertake the design, review, and preparation of technical documentation for CWMS infrastructure construction and maintenance, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
• Provide technical expertise to inform the planning and execution of Council's initiatives for wastewater reuse, emphasizing efficiency and sustainability.
• Serve as the key liaison with developers to assess and mitigate the impact of development projects on Council's infrastructure, leveraging engineering principles for effective resolution.
• Develop and manage budgets for maintenance and capital construction endeavors, optimizing resource allocation and cost-effectiveness across diverse projects.
• Offer specialized technical support for the operation of the Mount Barker Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated facilities, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance.
• Interface with regulatory agencies such as the Department of Health, SA, and the Environmental Protection Authority to meet stringent reporting requirements and uphold environmental standards.
• Supervise the CWMS monitoring program to ensure rigorous compliance with legislative mandates, license stipulations, and comprehensive compliance reporting.
• Uphold uncompromising adherence to Occupational Health, Safety, and Welfare Regulations throughout the entire lifecycle of Council's engineering projects and activities.

• Utilize computer software to analyze low flows in natural watercourses, assessing current conditions and projecting future trends to evaluate the potential impact of climate change on flow patterns.

• Develop comprehensive process plans for the dyeing and finishing department, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in operations.
• Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks within the dye house to optimize production flow and enhance productivity.
• Oversee the operation of water and wastewater treatment plants, implementing monitoring and optimization strategies to ensure environmental compliance and resource efficiency.
• Monitor and address non-conformance issues within the dyeing process, collaborating closely with the technical team to implement corrective actions and improve process reliability.
• Conduct technical evaluations of chemical experiments conducted in the dye sample laboratory to ensure quality and reliability of dyeing processes.
• Coordinate closely with the merchandising department to facilitate seamless communication and timely delivery of products.
• Uphold workplace safety and health procedures, implementing measures to mitigate risks and promote a safe working environment.
• Maintain adherence to ISO standards throughout all operations within the dyeing and finishing departments, ensuring quality management and regulatory compliance.
