Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Making home visits and being responsible for providing domiciliary care and referral services for antenatal and postnatal mothers with children under five, as well as for acute and chronic morbidity cases.
• Conducting nurse-run clinics, such as maternal and child health clinics, morbidity clinics, immunization clinics, and first aid clinics.
• Rendering referral services to secondary and tertiary levels, and offering regular follow-ups.
• Educating individual families about the cause, spread, and prevention of respiratory tract infections, worm infections, and scabies.
• Identifying the morbidity clients (Chronic renal failure, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, rheumatic heart disease, mental retardation, paraplegia, ischaemic heart disease and myocardial infaction) and educating them on treatment and home care
• Identifying clients with communicable diseases like tuberculosis, HIV, chickenpox, and typhoid, and educating them on treatment and home care.
• Conducting mass education programs for the community on general and specific topics, like environmental sanitation, family planning, and HIV/AIDS.
• Responsible for arranging and conducting programs like the school health program, women's health education program, adolescent health and youth programs, and mass dental and eye camps.
