Functions of processing and interpreting samples and controls in areas such as clinical biochemistry, hematology, and immunology, including the use of analyzers such as:

Processing and Administrative Bacteriologist in the Mycobacteria Area.

• Perform seeding in MP medium for Mycobacterium cultures and set up PCR-MTB and QUANTIFERON-TB tests.
• Conduct bacilloscopy and read slides to identify and report positive cultures.
• Process and analyze mycobacteria samples, including decontamination, concentration, and staining procedures.
• Monitor growth and perform subcultures to isolate and identify mycobacteria.
• Implement quality control measures for all procedures to ensure accurate results.
• Manage and store necessary supplies, and send slides to the Local Health Authority.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as BIOMERIEUX BACTEC and GenXpert.

Processing and Administrative Bacteriologist in the Transfusion Service.

• Processing quality controls for the National Institute of Health and PROASECAL.
• Special tests, including antibody screening, antibody identification, resolution of ABO discrepancies, alloimmunization processing, autoadsorption, elution, red blood cell unit compatibility, unit phenotyping, and antigen identification in patients.
• Managing equipment such as: IH 500 BIO RAD, BIO RAD Cards, and reagents, and BIO RAD BANJO.
• Administrative duties, including voice-to-voice checks for unit delivery to the orderly, reporting adverse reactions to transfusions, managing blood component stock, handling red code dispatch, and overseeing Datalab ENTERPRISE, SERVINTE, and E-delphyn software.

• Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs related to transfusion medicine.

Head of Hematology, Coagulation, and Microscopy

• Supervise processing in various areas, including chemistry, immunology, hormones, and transfusion services.
• Oversee the processing of quality controls for internal and external assessments across all areas, ensuring adherence to standards.
• Maintain detailed records for daily, weekly, and monthly operations of laboratory equipment, including: Cobas b221 for electrolytes, Cobas h232 for D-dimer and troponin, Cobas c311 for chemistry, Sysmex XN-550 for hematology, Start Max for coagulation, Ortho BioVue System for transfusion services, and other related equipment.
• Manage and utilize laboratory software, WinsisLab, for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
