Heavy Towing and recovery operations

• operating super quad road trains in the pilbara including tipping on the run

• In January 2023 I was hired into a Heavy Towing Company to tidy up there permits and do some driver training as well as operating a heavy tow truck and cover most things associated in that industry
• This was an agreed fixed term contract as I had things on the horizon I needed to achieve

I was contracting to a specialist company in NZ.

My role was training(qualified NZTA trainer) in the heavy haulage industry. Also I am a qualified Type 1 Load pilot and was also a specialist Jinker operator working with 4x8 load jinkers specialising in beam movements throughout NZ.

• During 2017 – 2018 I did a stint in Australia driving B doubles and transporters before returning to NZ back to the Heavy Haulage industry where I was driving heavy transporters and working as an oversize load pilot, I am also an NZTA/MITO approved assessor for the Heavy Haulage Industry specializing in Load Piloting and Bridge Engineering Self Supervision

• In 2015 I purchased my own Prime Mover and was contracted to a Heavy Haulage company moving heavy machinery throughout NZ

• In November 2013 I took over as Transport Manager of that company; my responsibilities being staff recruitment, work allocation, budgeting and planning, purchasing, fleet management and all Heavy Haulage Permit Applications

• I spent 12 years working in the towing industry
• The first two dealing with cars (had 2 trucks I owned) and then I spent 7 years operating a heavy tow truck rated at 110 tonne
• With the heavy recovery I dealt with breakdowns and accident recovery
• I was also responsible for recovery co-ordination, ordering required equipment for recoveries and spent 12 months as the Auckland branch manager whilst the manager was on his OE
• For the last 3 years in the towing industry I returned to the car side but spent my time running the workshop and keeping the trucks up to roadworthy standard and running the company’s heavy transporter

• I have been involved in the Transport Industry since leaving school in 1990
• Starting out at the bottom I was lucky enough to get a start with Lightning Transport and get tuition from a group of highly experienced drivers
• By the age of 20 I was in a brand new tractor unit with 40ft swing lift
• I operated trucks throughout the North & South Islands on line haul
• I have had experience with truck and trailer, B train, wide and over length loads
• I am competent in the operation of road ranger and European synchromesh gearboxes
