I moved to Coffs Harbour to be close to my family after completing my midwifery course. Applied to Coffs Harbour Private and Base Hospitals. Both hospitals sent a letter saying that there were no positions available at this time. Baringa made the decision to place me in their casual pool.
More experience in midwifery became the focus. There was a full-time midwifery position advertised in the Sydney Morning Herald, at Royal North Shore in Sydney, and an application was sent.
I remained in the casual pool at Baringa and recall being called for one or two supported shifts: one in the Birth Suite, and one shift on the Surgical and Medical ward.
The Midwifery Nursing Unit managers from Royal North Shore made contact to let me know my application was successful in starting the Postgraduate Midwifery Program.
