Textile Expertise

As a dressmaker with over 45 years of experience, I possess the in-depth knowledge, understanding and skills to impart this knowledge effectively to students.  My skills and knowledge include:

  • Advanced Pattern Making and Draping;
  • Expert Sewing Techniques and garment construction;
  • Advanced skills in various stitches, seams, and finishes;
  • Knowledge of couture sewing techniques and high-end garment construction;
  • Fitting and Tailoring techniques for making exact adjustments and alterations;
  • Fabric knowledge to guide students in understanding and selecting the appropriate fabric for their projects;
  • Historical and contemporary fashion knowledge assists students when incorporating historical elements into modern designs; and
  • Ability to teach textile science and design principles, while incorporating modern textile technology.

Additional Information

The Bachelor of Educational Studies will be completed this year.The teaching placement that I completed this year included year 9 food, vocational courses of childcare, hospitality, and workplace skills, and year 7 and 9 textiles.My final placement is scheduled for semester 1, 2025. It could be at a secondary school where I have been granted the 'preservice' teaching status.
