Extensive experience in operational and strategic management across a wide range of fisheries within Australia and internationally and have strong planning, project delivery and leadership skills. Experienced working in high-pressure environments to deliver outcomes and deadlines. Proven ability to source and synthesise complex information in a policy context to provide advice to a range of stakeholders. Fisheries Advisor

  • Provide strategic advice to the executive of WAFIC on fisheries management and operations for Western Australian fisheries
  • Represent WAFIC at annual fisheries meeting to represent fishers and provide balanced views on management and sustainability
  • Assist in developing funding programs for fisheries research through Fisheries Research and Development Council
  • To date have been successful in obtaining grants for octopus, bycatch reduction and marine park assessment
  • Liaise with fishers on government, environmental and policy matters
  • Develop strong relationships with Government departments, Universities and Corporate partners to support Sustainability
  • Assessment and critic of Harvest strategies and management plans for major western Australian fisheries
  • In this role I have input into many of the issues that face the fishing industry Nationally
