Summary

Martha Bird is a Perth based percussionist, drummer, educator and composer. She has a keen interest in all genres of music varying from jazz, funk, contemporary and classical specialising in Drumkit and hand percussion. She has performed with ensembles and orchestras all across Perth such as Defying Gravity Percussion ensemble, Milford Street Shakers, WA Youth Orchestra, Perth Symphony & WA Wind Symphony, including her own band ‘Echo of Aphrodite’, a funk collective who headlined the first ever Perth International Womens Jazz Festival. She frequently performs in theatre shows where she has been involved in over 20 musicals on both Percussion & Drumkit. She was a finalist in the Richard Gill Prize at WAAPA, as well as the recipient of the Luigi Paolino percussion scholarship. Aswell as this, she is a committed and driven educator who loves seeing the next generation of musicians succeed.
