2023 -Ongoing Standard 5: Comprehensive Care – Rostering Staff
Ø Effective rostering is pivotal for ensuring that patients have access the necessary care as well at appropriate times I am able to establish as well designed rostering spread sheet used to create and manage rosters efficiently and to ensure there is adequate staffing levels , skill mix to meet patient needs
Ø Ensuring that Rostering complies with relevant regulatory frameworks , that the 4 F’s in rostering will be strictly consider as per Austin Employee Centred Rostering Principles which are: Foundation, Flexibility , Fairness and Fatigue management
Ø To ensure that the roster is 6 weeks in advance and submitted to the NUM for approval prior to the roster alignment date to facilitate seamless HWS for requesting supplementary staff to fill up roster vacancies
Ø Facilitating communication to the staff and giving them enough period of time(at least a fortnight)to request their roster through emails and writing in the roster request sheet, effective rostering can help optimise resource utilization and reduced absenteeism to improve productivity
Ø Update and discussion with the NUM prior to rostering ,with regards to staffing updates ,current EFT’s , and Leave balances/EFT to ensure that the right number of employees with the necessary skills are available to cover all shifts By accurately planning schedules/rostering it can help control labor expenses

Ø This standard that I am involve with together with the rest of the members focuses on minimizing the risk of preventable infections in patients and effectively managing infection when they occur By demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement ,by doing regular quarterly audits as per Austin Infection control audit schedule in Aseptic technique(X15), PIVC Maintenance(X15), CVAD Maintenance(X10) ,Doffing Audit(X15) Donning Audit (X15)
Ø Through this regular audits made by 8 East Team, Standard 3, the collection of compliance and non- compliance results utilised in the implementation of new strategies to enhance infection control practices

Ø Conduct regular quarterly audits of hand hygiene by observing healthcare staff hand hygiene practices at the point of care, noting when and how they clean their hands
Ø At the end of the audit staff being observed for his/her hand hygiene practice will be offered constructive feedback and highlight areas of compliance and areas that need improvement .
Ø Participate in campaigns to raise awareness about the 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene and its importance to staff, patients ,and visitors
