Liaised with financiers regarding the financial model and designed Project Reporting for the development phase, set up processes, procedures with the key parties (Project Manager, Financier and Board) for reporting requirements, mapping of WBS to ERP system, approvals process for change orders and forecasted payments to ensure efficient drawdown of the debt facility.
  • Was the key finance contact in Canada for the divestment of the Lethbridge asset, participated in the legal and due diligence process as well as the transitioning of the finance function for the Lethbridge asset to the purchaser.
  • In conjunction with the President, negotiated a working capital facility that more closely suited the cyclical nature of the industrial minerals business in North America which enabled the company to increase the purchases of raw materials to meet increased demand during the winter season.
  • Migrated the Canadian operations over to EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) streamlining accounts payables and receivables processes and improving cash flow management.
  • Identified and established management reports and KPIs for operations (eg. tonnes unloaded per hour per employee) and implemented this in the budget process, enabling benchmarking of actual performance and identifying potential streamlining opportunities, including switching casual management and supervisory positions to salaried positions to reduce overtime costs and labour cost overruns.
  • Implemented efficiencies across the operations including automating manual processes, utilizing functionality within the ERP system, implementing new sales and purchase order modules, inventory and cost tracking, balance sheet reconciliations and reviews which created a more transparent auditable trail.

  • Integral part of team responsible for in-house preparation of statutory accounts and directly linking to the general ledger and source documentation. I identified and amended inaccuracies in the general ledger, established auditable account reconciliations. The processes implemented streamlined and improved the reporting process year on year.

This involved liaising with external consultants (software and IT support) and all users of the system across the Group, I managed the user acceptance testing phase and worked with consultants and system users to resolve and manage the issues arising from the testing.
  • Worked closely with the Canadian Finance team to restructure the chart of accounts to capture appropriate activity centers to more easily track cost allocations and also provided support to the VP Finance (Canada) and his team.
