All my life I have been around boats. But It took me a long time to figure out that a career in the Marine industry was achievable. For the last 4 years, I have been living out my dream. I work on the water in one of the most beautiful locations on Earth.
Starting just a few years ago as a general purpose hand on a reef boat to now being the First Mate on one of the most respected Great Barrier Reef adventure boats, taking 400 pax a day on a ship weighing just over 600 tons, and every day I alone maneuver a semi-sub weighing 24tons powered by just too small 135 outboards around reef system and through coral bommie mines taking 50pax at a time.
I'm pretty happy with how my career has started. With that being said, the bigger boats are not at the reef and are so much further from land. And that is exactly where I plan to be.
For now, I only currently hold a Master 24< ticket and an STCW95 (Cost)
I have completed my MED2 task book as well as my Master 45M< task book and taking those courses later in the year and at the beginning of next year.
I have spent many years at Maritime Rescue operations and now with Tourism operations and it is now time for me to see where my career will take me next. I am unequivocally passionate about my future at Sea.
