As a Tradesman Carpenter, I was responsible for executing complex framing and building tasks directly from plans with minimal supervision. I consistently worked independently while also leading and mentoring apprentices under my supervision. My role required strong communication and coordination with other trades to ensure smooth project progress and timely completion. I frequently traveled for work, managed the pickup and organization of materials, and ensured that job sites were well-equipped and efficient. This position further developed my ability to take initiative, interpret plans accurately, and contribute to high-quality construction outcomes.

I began working as a Barista at a local café at the age of 12, continuing every Sunday even while completing my carpentry apprenticeship. This early experience taught me the importance of discipline, punctuality, and being presentable in a customer-facing role. It helped me develop strong communication skills, particularly with customers and older coworkers, and taught me how to work effectively under supervision and alongside a team. Balancing both roles strengthened my time management and reinforced a strong work ethic from a young age.

As a Carpentry Apprentice, I gained hands-on experience under the guidance of skilled mentors, developing strong foundational skills in framing and general carpentry. I assisted with transporting materials and equipment to job sites and maintained a clean, organised work environment. Over time, I earned the trust of my employer to work independently, driving between job sites to complete tasks such as executing engineers’ lists, straightening studs, reframing and relocating walls, modifying timber frames to meet builder specifications, and working directly with builders and off-site plans. In addition to carpentry work, I was also trusted with other tasks such as gyprocking and assisting with groundwork prior to slab pours. This experience strengthened my problem-solving skills and taught me to take initiative, work through challenges independently, and manage tasks without constant supervision.
