In my time at Essential Energy, I worked within the Zone Substation Engineering team, gaining experience in a multitude of processes needed to make the business function. Some projects I undertook include:

  • Maintaining project documentation, updating as necessary when changes arose regarding asset information.
  • Conducting analysis on asset failures, reliability and replacement suggestions, using Dynamic Gas Analysis, failure reports, and trending alerts.
  • Undertook a research project to determine the effect of long, high-voltage transmission lines on reactive power. Utilized MATLAB and LiDAR digital twin to perform calculations based on various conditions, such as temperature, wind, and load on the line.

University/ Personal Projects

Brushed DC motor.

Created a functioning split ring DC motor using simple components and a voltage supplied from an external power source. Personal home interest project to 

learn how to implement key concepts I had learnt in class in regards to DC motor under varying magnetic felid strengths.

Arduino Wireless Parking Sensor

Created a wireless parking sensor using RFID and ultrasonic sensors to register the presence of a car as well as accuracy of the chip read., UOW 250 project with 10 group members, Worked mostly on the Hardware circuit design as well as marketing.

D-Tech Doors UOW ENG350

Developed a product with our team that utilized facial recognition to create an automatic door lock/switch for nursing home to implement for persons with dementia trying to open restricted doors. Utilized my experience in circuit design/building as well as gained foundational knowledge into coding for machine learning models. 

WAAM Thesis research

Currently undertaking a research project for my thesis on Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing, looking at how to correlate audio signals to the Arc energy using Variety of signal analysis techniques to  which one best detects porosity or defects in the print layer. This project is currently on going and will continue for the remainder of the year.
