Matilda Hindson

I have learnt how to collaborate with people of all ages. Whether that be the children that I teach, or my coworkers. I enjoy learning and adapting my lessons to fit each child's learning needs. It is one of the most rewarding jobs, being apart of each child's passion for the water and swimming.

As a long-time football coach who started at a young age, I have grown up as a natural leader. I have developed my skills to help children learn and have mastered the different ways that children learn. I can confidently communicate with parents and other members of the coaching team to ensure sessions and games run as smoothly as possible. Not only have I taught the children I have coached how to
become amazing athletes, I have taught them virtues and values that apply to both off and on the footy field.

During my time at Red Rooster as a casual Crew Member, I have learnt how to work cooperatively with my colleagues to make sure work is completed in a timely fashion and to a high standard. I have learnt both, kitchen skills such as cooking, cleaning, and even teamwork, and strong customer service skills and techniques. Working in fast food has taught me the ability to spontaneously compromise, to make sure the customer stays happy, whilst also meeting our store guidelines. From being cross trained across all areas of the store, I have learnt how to multitask when it is necessary. I have also trained a number of new team members on customer service, cooking, cleaning and sales techniques.

Throughout my time at Clovelly Cottage, I learnt how to improve the quality of life of people- simply by being kind and having a positive, uplifting persona. I maintained a clean, neat, and operational space to serve the needs of the programs, events, and games I had planned for the residents. Although the time period was cut short, I was able to connect with the residents and make memorable bonds with residents of all levels of abilities. I did this by fostering a supportive and inclusive team environment.

My time at Boronia Buffaloes was similar to my football coaching career. I was a player for the club for 10 years, which meant I had grown to love the community feel the club created. Coaching my team meant that I could become a part of the reason that the club had such a community feeling about it. I taught the boys enhanced player skills
through personalized coaching and feedback. I promoted sportsmanship both off and on the field, encouraging the children that even losing was a win because you could learn something from it. Throughout my time as coach, I acted as a strong positive role model for these children.
