Known for having a good work ethic, mechanical aptitude and a desire to constantly improve efficiency of plant equipment. Mechanical Fitter- Asset Maintenance

  • Carried out routine maintenance activities safely on concentrator equipment. From lubrication and cleaning to repairs and alignments on all mechanical components. Always looking for opportunities to improve efficiency of tasks and equipment reliability.
  • Installed, maintained and rebuilt numerous mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, compressors, filter presses, conveyors, mills and gearboxes.
  • Performed troubleshooting and diagnostics of mechanical equipment to determine necessary repairs.
  • Wrote and implemented maintenance strategies and work instructions for more complex and unfamiliar items of fixed plant. Primarily within my specialty field on Filter press machines.
  • Completed final half of boilermaking certification and began degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Trained and capable of performing fabrication from drawings and hot work repairs on fixed plant equipment.
  • Supervised and led maintenance teams when required. Enjoys sharing knowledge with apprentices and other tradesman. Work well within a group and across multiple departments.

  • Supervised and led large maintenance teams for shutdown maintenance tasks and major overhauls.
  • Completed small engineering projects including conversion of mobile crushing plant to a fixed plant asset for road base aggregate.

  • Safely supervised and ran the Blast Furnace Maintenance crew for 3 years. Significantly reduced crew incidents, blood lead levels and improved plant reliability through implementation of preventative equipment changeout strategies and crew rotation.
  • Led the crew as a leading hand for 2 years, sharing learnt knowledge of the plant with other tradesman and apprentices.
  • Maintained and repaired equipment such as: Blast furnace, accretion machines, charge cars, baghouses, hot metal stirrers and transfer pumps, cranes, slurry pumps, bucket elevators and casting floor plant.
  • Heavily trained and ticketed to work with and undertake work within high risk environments.
  • Wrote and implemented many safe work instructions and JSA's for tasks both as a tradesman and supervisor.
  • Spent time in projects and planning, re establishing secondary filter plant and planning for a 1 in 15 year furnace shutdown event.
