Electrical Construction Manager

  • Rio Tinto's Cape Lambert A load out facility Upgrade for Austral Construction.
  • Cape Lamberts 2.4km (A) jetty which was initially set up for iron ore ships of half the size was overhauled and jetty strengthened to allow larger ships and upgrade of production to approximately move US $2 million of Iron ore an hour.

This required the demolition of the existing dolphins and the installation of 18 new Dolphins for the larger ships to moor up to while being loaded and a new state of the art Ship Access Platform and all new under wharf access walkway platforms. Four new Sub boards for each of the four berths at Wharf level and all new electrical lighting, Power and control systems for all under wharf electrical apparatus, all being done while Jetty and shiploader were still operational, closing one Berth at a time as to not affect RIO Tinto's production requirements.


CBH E type storage upgrades and complete re-wires at Morowa and Minginew sites.

Electrical Supervisor

  • During this period, I was directly responsible for supervising a wide range of industrial mining, oil and gas and renewable energy projects.

A few of the jobs are documented below:

  • Nyngan 102MW Solar farm for client First Solar. This project comprised of multiple contractors which I was directly responsible for.

Responsible for a team of up to 30 people for all above ground connections and testing of the HV network linking between the Substation and PCS's, PCS's to combiner boxes linking together the 1.35 million fixed non-tracking solar panels. All instrumentation involved in the weather station systems.

Reporting directly to senior management on upcoming works, estimation submissions and works in progress daily operation meetings, HSE compliance, Electrical compliance rectification works.

  • Mumbida 55MW wind farm for client Leighton's. This project involved underground installation of the HV and fibre network, earthing of the Turbine foundations and substation, VLF/HV testing.

Rectification works of the 22 x 2.5MW general electric wind turbines to meet Australian Regulatory compliance to AS/NZ3000 standards

Installation of site office and ablutions facilities, 30KW water bore installation, mobile concrete silo maintenance and repairs.

  • Waitsia Stage 1 onshore gas project in Dongara for client Enscope.

Directly responsible for 11 electricians, four instrument technicians and two tube fitters and one HA inspector for all electrical/instrumentation works on the installation of two new wellheads and one centralised northern hub and upgrades to the existing Xyris productin facility that the new installation tied into.

All daily site reporting and client meetings.

KPI's, HSE compliance, pre-starts and toolboxes and managing cable/equipment/instruments ITR's and HA inspections for the Dossier.

  • Geraldton Port Ship loader Four refurbishment
  • Rio Tinto's New Wickham substation to supply power to the new housing development for client ABB.
  • Royhill substation for the new workers camp and contracted out after completion to assist another electrical company to complete cabling and commissioning on the camp facility buildings.
  • BHP's Jimble bar mine site HV reticulation and earthing systems for Thiess.

Also completed the same type of works for CPB during the BHP Minning Area C upgrade and extension to the existing mine site.

CPB also engaged us to complete breakdowns and maintainence of there critical site equipment, while completing our scope of works.
