Matthew Drake

I worked for YGCC as a crew member of a few different unloading teams, at different sites, like Kmart, Amart, Bunnings, Coles, 4WD Supacentre, which gave me exposure to different operational procedures and a diverse group of people.

I am now one of the more experienced members of the crew I currently work with, and have had to teach rookies the processes we have to follow. I was picked to be in the first crew of workers to work at Northline Logistics, after YGCC signed off on a contract with them.

As a logistics technician, I had to:

• unload containers, ensuring safe stacks on functional pallets with proper wrapping, to prevent workers from other departments being exposed to hazards
• communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and customers in order to resolve issues quickly and accurately.
• adhered to workplace safety operational procedures, and Worksafe regulations.
• maintained positive relations with the customer
• safely operate high risk MHE forklifts

As a butchers assistant, my role was to ensure the cleanliness of the workspace, to help the business with their aim of providing customers with high quality service, and premium meat.

• I was responsible for the cleanliness of the floors, tools and machinery like bandsaws which could cause harm if proper safety procedures were not followed.
• Maintained sanitization to keep surfaces and equipment clean, follow health regulations and protect customer safety.
• I was involved in the disposal of waste, including of offcuts of meat and rubbish.
• Assisting customers with their queries, and carrying their orders out to their cars.
