Work History

Bicycle Mechanic | Acting Workshop Manager

99 Bikes
04.2022 - Current
  • Being a bicycle mechanic at 99 Bikes, my tasks consist of ensuring bikes are assembled to a high and safe standard, servicing and repair customer bikes within a 24 hour time frame, and ensuring that the booking portal is maintained ie no jobs missed, bikes are being collected and warranty work is being completed, attention to detail in assessing the bikes prior to service this allows for accurate quotes and customers understanding what the service included and what parts are required
  • Communication - verbal, virtual and interpersonal and customer expectation management is imperative for smooth interactions with my customer but allows for all colleagues to understand what is expected of us from the customer point of view. This also is an opportunity to discuss the timeframe the customer needs the bike back as it may be their only mode of transport,
  • Another key aspect of customer expectations is that I contact them with updates on parts required or warranty work before they reach out
  • I also communicate frequently with customers regarding service updates, attending to concerns they have or informing them on job completion
  • I'm able to research where to source parts or gain further knowledge on unique bikes and their parts is also an important aspect
  • Educated customers about proper bike care techniques, extending the lifespan of their bicycles

Sales Assistant | Shop Supervisor

Pushys
10.2020 - 04.2022
  • As a sales assistant at Pushys, it was my duty to ensure the shop looked neat and appealing to my clients
  • Other responsibilities included making sure all clients have had their inquiries answered or confirmed within a timely fashion, that fellow employees had their breaks at appropriate times and checking that stock levels were maintained and organised
  • At Pushys, I provide a high standard of service and knowledge to my customers, by providing advice and collaborating ideas on potential upgrades for their bikes or ensuring that they're content to roam the shop but comfortable to seek assistance if required
  • Services also included tube changes, bicycle spa's/cleaning
  • Whilst providing such services, I would check in with clients to ensure they had been aided, answer any telephone calls and assist with questions and inquiries asked by fellow employees

Sales Assistant

Lonsdale Street Cyclery
08.2019 - 03.2020
  • It was my responsibility to maintain and order stock when required
  • I also oversaw customer relations, this entailed ordering specific items or building bikes
  • Booking bikes in for servicing and ensuring the correct parts were there for the correct date was also an important responsibility I upheld
  • The skills I acquired from this job included; time management, showing initiative and maintaining professionalism in my service
  • This is evident through me having to create time from fixing punctured tubes; to then helping customers; then returning back to the bike in a sufficient time frame for the customer

Sales Assistant

Kmart
10.2018 - 01.2019

Childcare - Educator

Lollipop Day centre
09.2014 - 10.2018
  • I was responsible for providing care to young children, encouraging development of life skills and supporting them through their early stages of life
  • The skills I gained from working in childcare were; multitasking, awareness of all the children i.e
  • What they were doing, if they were being safe, were they playing nicely
  • I also had to be aware of other hazards when we went on excursions
  • I maintained healthy relationships with the children and their parents
  • This was evident through morning drop offs where a parent would tell me what had happened the previous night or that morning and what they expected to happen, having a healthy relationship with the children also made the morning drop offs easier because they knew I was a friend and wanted them to have the best time they could that day
