Accomplishments

Set up the David Serisier Research Biobank (DSRB)
I was the driving force in establishing the DSRB in 2014 with the hope of facilitating investigator-driven research. It provides a sample collection, processing, storage and

dispatch service that extends beyond the capabilities of
regular pathology providers. Samples from diabetic, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis and COPD patients as well as healthy controls subjects have all been utilised for academic research studies conducted at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, The University of Queensland, The Queensland University of Technology and Mater Research to name just a few.

I was the driving force behind starting The Respiratory, Infectious Disease and Oncology (RIO) Research Department which quickly established itself as the largest clinical research unit within Mater Research. Based on a vision of being the premier site for clinical trials in Queensland, RIO conducted clinical trials from Phase IA to Phase IV, as well as healthy Volunteer Vaccine studies. The department at any one time was conducting over 90-120 clinical studies with over two-thirds consisting of industry sponsored clinical trials. RIO was well known in the industry for being high recruiters for most of the clinical trials they conducted while I was there.
