Meghan Notley

I currently work in the Early Childhood Team, which supports children in finding the best-suited pathway for their developmental delays or concerns. I also support new and existing children aged 0-9 who access NDIS funding, and I support families through our Early Supports Program, funded by the NDIS.

Key points of my job description:

• Building relationships with families through effective communication skills.
• I researched current programs offered within the community that could benefit families.
• Discussed client advocacy and referral services, supporting families with education and resources.
• Communicated effectively, both verbally and in writing, to families and healthcare professionals in a professional manner at all times.

In my final year of working in early childhood, I was in the kindergarten room as the kindergarten assistant. Supporting and educating children in a play-based environment, throughout indoor and outdoor learning spaces.

Prior to 2019, I worked at Elements Childcare in Belmont.

Key points of my job description:

• Maintained daily records of individual activities, meals, and naps.
• Identified children in need of extra support for emotional, health-related or developmental concerns and conceived improvement strategies.
• Created and implemented a developmentally appropriate curriculum addressing all learning styles.

French Woods Festival is a Performing Arts Camp located in Upstate New York. Running for 4 months during their summer, having over 800 campers and over 400 Counsellors on campus.

During this period I took on a higher role, as Head Camp Counsellor. This position allowed me to step outside my comfort zone, guiding and supervising 25 Camp Counsellors and 80 campers. I was also the main person for parents to contact for the girls junior lodges aged 6-12.

Key points of my job description:

• Coordinated and led group activities for campers and counsellors.
• Worked creatively with other staff to develop and carry out new themes and events for camp participants.
• Communicated and maintained personal contact with parents or guardians to discuss achievements and any behaviour concerns.
• Created and coordinated staff schedules, daily activity schedules and field trips maintaining proper staff levels for all activities.

Worked as a General Camp Counselor supporting and guiding girls ages 9-12 in a fun, busy, active camp environment. I lived with these children in a cabin, for a 12 week period, shared meal times and spent my days exploring different activities and experiences, covering a performing arts curriculum of Theatre, Circus, and Dance.

• Implemented protocols to develop relationships with campers and parents.
• Helped children to develop social skills and meaningful relationships.
• Explained and enforced rules to keep all campers safe and healthy.
• Engaged children in arts and crafts, singing, sports activities, games and field trips while maintaining safe environment.
