Injury Services Specialist - National Workers Compensation program - Scheme Insurance (QBE, EML, Gallagher Bassett, WC Queensland).
Reporting to the National Injury Services Manager, the Injury Services Specialist role provides leadership, corporate governance, support, program development and data analytics to the Serco Asia Pacific Business Units covering Justice & Immigration, Defence, Health, Facilities Management and Contact Centers.
Key functions of this role include
• Leading, coaching and mentoring Business Unit Injury Management Advisors (10)
• Delivery of key improvement projects within the AsPac Injury Services strategy e.g. Early Intervention, Audit program, Cross Business Unit Suitable Duties Register, Psychological claims risk profiling, User Guide Injury Management Processes as well as delivering on Finance, Workforce Management and Payroll improvement process.
• Provide case management and strategic support for complex Injury Management matters across a national portfolio.
• Implement best practice service provider network and monitor performance of providers against established service expectations.
• Ensure maintenance of accurate and up to date system data recording all relevant case management strategies and actions.
• Monitor Business Unit performance and provide feedback/ recommendations to address opportunities for improvement.
• Establish a program for Vic/ Qld/ SA case review meetings with insurers and Business Unit representatives.
• Manage Agent relationship with QBE (NSW & Risk States), EML/Gallagher Basset (Vic & SA) and Workcover Qld.
• Administration and key point of contact for Solv Injury including data analysis and reporting.
• Administration and maintenance of Injury Services User Guides
• Ownership and development of the National internal/external Injury Services audit processes.
• Development and execution of Injury Services community of practice program.
• Development, delivery, oversee and monitor the Early Intervention program/ Initial Care.
• Report on monthly/quarterly Early intervention metrics, including uptake rates, injury and treatment types and program costs.
• High intensity support of Defence and Seafarers (Comcare) Workers Compensation claims
• Assist Business Units to identify and develop mechanisms to improve claims and injury management performance.
• Develop and implement programs to support the Aspac Injury Services Strategy
Ø Managing and driving performance of a multi-state self-insured Workers Compensation program
Ø Overseeing and supporting a complex national Workers Compensation program in a conventionally insured environment
Ø Managing the Seafarer’s portfolio under Comcare
Ø Designing and implementing effective injury and claims management programs, internal and external governance (audit) programs, Early intervention, post trauma support, OH&S, wellbeing and non-work related injury programs
Ø Leading, coaching and supporting a national team of Injury Management Advisors
In my most recent role, the primary focus of responsibility has been supporting, monitoring and providing governance over a National workers compensation program. This is achieved by leading and coaching a national network of Injury Management Advisors across a range of Business Units, identifying needs, developing, and facilitating appropriate training programs.
With this has been the implementation and management of compliance and performance reporting, the development and management of an internal and external audit program and Injury Management KPI's.
Larger scale projects also included the development and implementation of a National Early Intervention Program, delivering leader training, liaising with program providers, monitoring performance outcomes and reporting on program statistics. Further projects include the revision of state specific Recovery at Work Programs, self-insurance feasibility and a deep dive into the psychological risk profile and claims management across varying business Units.
Aligned to Injury Services strategy everyday planning and the implementation of strategic processes, aimed at improving claims performance, supporting recovery and reducing premium impact forms the basis a refined Injury Management Program; the focus of my specialist role.
Having also worked for a large self-insurer in an autonomous role, I've been extremely successful in providing support, implementing strategies and developing training packages focused on injury prevention, early intervention, office ergonomics, mental health, non-work related injury management programs.
Specialist projects have also been undertaken in: Office ergonomics Moving Safely training - a National training program delivered to all levels of management across the VIC/TAS portfolio, Mental Health & Wellbeing strategies - incorporating resources, training, events, support and services and delivering this to stores with specific management training and National Safety projects.
My skills and experience have been highly regarded amongst my leaders and peers. I think strategically and methodically to determine the best approach to achieving the desired outcomes in complex compensation matters. This includes all levels from case management, conciliation and legal matters, engaging in highly analytic discussion to ensure the direction of claims remains on track and/or the appropriate actions implemented.
