In years 11 and 12 my college had a strong tradition of building relationships through the high school and middle school sector given it can be quite daunting for some to make such a large transition and take on the extra responsibility. I was one of eight chosen to mentor and assist a year 8 student, this included helping develop their social skills to increase participation in classes and to help build friendship groups within their given cohorts. I am very proud to say that I was able to assist my given student from a C+ to multiple B+ and A- grades across their report card. Seeing how grateful the student and their parents were towards me is something I will cherish forever and is what I consider my greatest triumph in my schooling career.
