  • The Men’s Family Violence Counsellor (MFVC) is responsible for engaging with clients (primarily men who use family violence), providing professional telephone (in-bound and out-bound) and on-line counselling advisory and support services. Through telehealth, undertake MARAM screening and identification. Establish clear responsibilities for family violence identification, risk assessment and risk management.
  • Provide professional family violence counselling and advisory support services to both inbound and outbound callers in accordance with NTV principles and practices which represent behaviours which are: respectful, non-collusive, victim/survivor-centred, timely and culturally relevant.

Work from home position, responsible for referrals from participating stakeholders, Queensland Police Service Logan District and, Logan Hospital Metro South Health. The Victims of Community Crime Response (VoCCR) service focuses on addressing current gaps faced by victim-survivors needing immediate practical support after experiencing an interpersonal violent crime. VoCCR operates & responds 24/7.
  • Provide immediate and trauma-informed support through triage, crisis counselling, practical necessities, and referrals to successfully and safely meet the individual's needs within the first 72 hours.
  • Deliver immediate trauma-informed support in the form of answering or triaging inbound calls with compassion, providing psychological first aid and emotional support through traditional CBT interventions such as mindfulness and grounding techniques for callers presenting in acute distress, undertaking risk and needs assessments, safety planning and guiding service users through warm referral pathways.
  • Actioning referrals for eligible victims of crime and their immediate family, delivering immediate assistance following an act of violence, coordinating emergency transport and accommodation, and addressing basic needs such as food, clothing, safety upgrades, and other practical aid.
  • At times, at the request of the victim and in consultation with Service Manager, travel to designated locations within the Logan QLD area to offer in-person crisis support.
  • Provide warm referrals for long-term support, which may involve legal, health, financial, and housing support.
  • Cultural responsiveness and commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of intersectional feminist practice and other relevant practice frameworks used to respond to victims of violent crime.
