The Series 7 exam permits an advisor sell all types of securities products (stocks, bonds, options, mutual funds, variable products, etc...) except commodities and futures.
The Series 65 license allows me to act as an investment adviser representatives (IARs) in my home state and in a fiduciary capacity, offering investment advice to clients for a fee.
