I'm responsible for ensuring machinery and equipment operate efficiently and safely, I perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections to keep systems running smoothly. I troubleshoot issues, document activities, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Within our role we have to also install new equipment, collaborate with different teams, and maintaining detailed records to minimize downtime and ensure workplace safety. Apart of taking records is completing the daily checks of the pool and systems within the pool, this involves testing the levels of acid/chlorine in the pool.
On the dry crop farm i was responsible for various tasks related to cultivating, maintaining, harvesting crops, and different odd jobs around the farm. While i was there i along with a team had to prepare the soil, plant seeds, apply fertilizer and pesticides, and monitoring crop growth. One of the main things i was doing during my time was repairing and maintaining vehicles on a farm to ensure that all farming machinery and equipment are in good working condition ready for the planting season that was coming up. It involved fixing mechanical issues, conducting repairs, and performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire replacements. I had to operate different machinery while i was here such tractors, loaders, trucks, excavators, bulldozer.
I was working for a company called Openreach in the UK that was the leading telecom company in the country. My role as a Chief engineer was working around underground services using technology for locating cables and other services, operating machinery and hand digging of trenches and other projects to make sure we were able to maintain the network. I would also deal with the different utilities in the ground to make sure the safe digging practices were being used, and to not disrupt any other service while we were digging. I also had to make good after the civil work which included tarmacing, slabs, pavors and concreting. Dealing with the public was a major part of the role, as was ensuring road closures and traffic lights and signage were all in place and legal. I have a streetworks accreditation for the next 4 years and have multiple tickets including: Digger, dumper, working at heights, underground safety, below ground services, confined spaces, gas testing, heavy lifting and advanced first aid. Them being said as i am now in Australia i am aware i will need to renew these tickets and i am willing to do this along with getting a white card ticket.
