At Brisbane airport, I conduct weekly and six monthly maintenance maintaining lighting systems, testing integrity of runway and taxiway circuits, maintaining the control side of plc's adding to them and assisting in upgrades such as adding cards for the programmers and wiring them, etc. In my current role at Alstef, I do weekly, 3 monthly and yearly maintenance of passenger conveyor lines and check ins, maintaining motors, control panels, photo eyes and contactors, vsd's etc.
Before being taken over by Alstef, working for BAC previously, as part of a team , I was maintaining aerobridges which dock to the aircraft. I was part of the first response team. A recent example was an aerobridge had broken cores on a cable which supplied critical control voltage to the bridge. The solution put forward was to remove the bridge from service for four days and replace cable carriers and all cables. I was on night duty, tested the integrity of all cables and found 2 cables with broken cores. Solution 1 was to use the cores across both cables as a temporary measure. The solution did not initially work as the cable was intermittent. I decided to replace as a temporary fix the first 15 metres of cable with staggered joints and heat shrink. This indeed made the bridge serviceable, the bridge was returned to service. The client was happy (BAC) and the repair proved reliable.
