Summary

Experienced Leading Hand with a strong focus on doing a task safely and the correct way. Experience in being a safety representative where I would attend safety meetings and discuss focus points for the shift. Strong believer that if you cannot do a job safely then the job will not begin until a safe method has been implemented, everyone working on that specific job are all on the same page and are aware of the risks and hazards.

Work History

Idler Technician- Leading Hand

Civmec, Royhill Site
01.2020 - Current
  • Taking out and replacing damaged Idlers with new ones
  • Rigging up conveyor belt using various mechanical aids eg: Come Along, Belt Lifter, Enerpac Ram
  • Ensuring crew completes the scope of work completed safely and efficiently for that shift
  • Preparing JHA's and writing out Take 5 at the start of each job, then referencing back to them when any part of the job changes, to ensure each crew member is well aware of the hazards and controls in place
  • Attending safety meetings and implementing ways to work safe and more efficient. For example: When prepping a belt we would put traffic control in place either side of the belt, both with a two-way radio, that way we can have one driver and 4 people putting the Idlers out in the correct spot. This improves safety as there is less risk of vehicle interaction whilst there are people on the ground working, and maximises production as the job will be done more efficiently with no stops or down time.
