  • 2 week placement to observe the functioning of a Grade 1 classroom as well as specialist subjects.
  • Opportunity to assist and engage with students.
  • Observed and noted connections to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST's).

Teaching Placement

Benowa State School (2022)
  • 3 week placement to observe the functioning of a Grade 3 classroom as well as specialist subjects.
  • Opportunity to teach first lessons.
  • Opportunity to assist and engage with students, including within lessons taught.
  • Step up in level of responsibility from previous observational placement.

Teaching Placement

Arundel State School (2023)
  • 5 week placement to observe and teach Health and Physical Education (HPE) (co-major of my degree).
  • Taught a variety of age groups including; Foundation, Grade 1, Grade 4, Grade 5 and Grade 6.
  • Step up in responsibility and level of teaching, by the end taking on a full teaching load.
  • Opportunity to participate in the specialised PE program for Grade 6 students; to further engage and extend students who excel in this area.
  • Opportunity to engage in planning of the school athletics carnival including practice events.
  • Opportunity to teach and work alongside various year levels.
  • Observed connections and teaching according to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST's).
  • Experimented with the use of various teaching strategies to see what is most effective during HPE lessons compared to the classroom.
  • Volunteered with interschool sports a few months after placement to demonstrate my commitment to learning and exploring through various teaching opportunities.

  • Step up again in responsibility and level of teaching, by the mid point taking on a full teaching load.

  • Formed connections and teaching according to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST's).
  • Experimented with the use of various teaching strategies to determine what is most effective for this age group of students.
  • Completed my Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA) alongside this placement.
  • Engaged in planning including unit plans, weekly plans and lesson plans.
  • Engaged in various forms of assessment (including diagnostic, formative and summative) as well as participation in moderation sessions.

  • Balanced and organised cash register by handling cash and counting change.
  • Replenished and organised sales floor merchandise.
  • Whilst at Candyland; worked with many children as customers and assisted with the purchasing of goods using their 'pocket money'.
