  • Triage Antenatal Referrals using the Smart Referral System. Contact Antenatal Clients to facilitate timely Antenatal Care for complex cases and arrange investigations as required for those clients who need them. Determine appropriate referrals for Midwifery Group Practice.
  • Liaise and support Midwifery Group Practice and individual Midwifery Group Practice midwives.
  • Conduct Antenatal Classes both face to face and via telehealth to give access to Antenatal Clients who live in the rural areas or are residing outside the Bundaberg area. Update the Antenatal Classes when required and ensure resources used are the most up to date and evidence based resources.
  • Support new and existing staff who work in the Antenatal clinic including Midwives, Student Midwives, Enrolled nurses, Medical staff and Adminstrative Staff.
  • Attend Child Advocacy Forum and work with the Child Advocacy Team to ensure Antenatal Clients with complex psychosocial situations are offered support and assistance to improve their Antenatal Care and family situation for after they birth their baby and for any other children in the family.
  • Liaise with the Social Worker for women with complex medical conditions, complex social situations and pregnancies with concerns.
  • For our First Nation Women I liaise with First 2000 Days Indigenous Health Worker to support them to access Antenatal Care and get assistance put in place for more complicated pregnancies.
  • Work with the Diabetic Team to get the Antenatal Women with existing diabetes and newly diagnosed gestational diabetes to get timely care with diabetes service and clinic.
  • Meet with the Antenatal Women who have issues and concerns with their Antenatal Care, to facilitate antenatal care that they are comfortable with.
  • Liaise with external services such as IWC for our First Nation Women Private Midwives, GP's and midwives working In GP practices to facilitate relevant Antenatal Care for their women.
  • Work with the Midwifery Unit Manager and midwives in the Bundaberg Family Unit to enable adequate staffing in the Antenatal clinics and address any clinic concerns.
  • Update Antenatal Resources to ensure the most up to date and evidence based resources.
  • Implemented the Safer Baby Bundle program and resources into the Antenatal clinc.
  • Attended the Preterm Birth Prevention Alliance initial Conference and assisted in implementing the recommendations into Antenatal Care at Bundaberg Hospital.
