  • Largest ACT Command, two hundred personnel
  • Policing over 60 per cent of the ACT population
  • Delivery of KPI's under the ACTP Purchase Agreement, with specific focus on response times, high visibility policing and clear up rates for the ACT North District
  • The district comprising of the Canberra CBD, Belconnen, Gungahlin, national capital precinct, international diplomatic missions to Australia with seats of the Federal and ACT Government
  • Provided support and high-level advice to the ACT Chief Police Officer (CPO) to ensure the provision of highly professional policing services in the ACT
  • Acted as Deputy Chief Police Officer during key events of ACT Bushfires and Floods in 2020
  • Police Forward Commander for Operation Belona, Riots at Immigration Detention Centre
  • Police Forward Commander for fatal stabbing of OMCG President at City Nightclub
  • Led the ACTP Inspectors Delegations and Authority Review and all Eight Key Recommendations were endorsed by the CPO and positive feedback in Charter of Performance
  • Leadership as Operational Commander for significant national protests, Black Lives Matter, Farmers Federation and Extinction Rebellion International and recent Aboriginal Tent Embassy
  • Strong, visible, and empathetic leadership with the 24-hour workforce by being highly visible, visiting front line workforce at Christmas and Easter across all three shifts
  • Highly visible by working weekends and over half workdays on afternoon shift and being available to the workforce in three stations over the Bushfire period, Floods and COVID term (that continues)
  • Covid Taskforce Commander, negotiated with three governments and police in Victoria and New South Wales for a safe passage plan of stranded ACT residents stranded in Wodonga, returned home safely
  • Leadership as PFC in homicide with Sudanese community and engagement
  • Leadership in financial management being constantly within budget
  • Leadership in mental health support for frontline personnel
  • Second time I have been privileged to lead the largest command and this is unprecedented

Acting Commander

Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption

  • Led integrated joint taskforces in New South Wales, ACT, Queensland, and Victoria
  • Strategically coordinate investigations in keeping with the Royal Commission charter
  • Parallel with organised crime investigations, identified resourcing in keeping with the Royal Commission hearing schedule
  • My key judgment focused the task force with high order criminal investigations, into bribery, extortion, blackmail, fraud, secret commissions, and perjury
  • Ensuring, the outcome being the high-profile office holders are now before the courts
  • For other stakeholders to influence future activities in other agencies, authored a futures paper, to the Deputy Commissioner Operations
  • The paper provides tenable options to tackle organised crime discovered during and beyond the Royal Commission
  • Recommended wide sweeping powers for other Commonwealth agencies and the tenable reintroduction of the Australian Building Construction Commission

Senior Investigating Officer - Acting Commander

POLARIS Joint Waterfront Taskforce

  • Led investigations of organised crime in areas including NSW waterfronts of Port Botany, Kembla, and Newcastle
  • Built and fostered relationships with international agencies to bring about outcomes for the resolution of organised crime both domestically and abroad
  • Performed the role as Acting Commander, Organised Crime, AFP HQ, Canberra
  • First AFP Detective Superintendent to lead a New South Wales Police Force (NSWPF), Crime Command, performing the role as Acting Taskforce Commander
  • This has resulted developing a broader network across multi agency partnerships and best practice
  • Led the international investigation resulting in the seizure of 230kg of hidden methyl amphetamine destined for Sydney worth $156 million, 10kg of cocaine worth $3.6 million and $350K of illicit cash
  • Recognised joint agency cooperation in a live national media conference
  • Built effective and ongoing working relationships with Colombian authorities resulting in the simultaneous apprehension of six offenders across three continents

State Manager, Adelaide, South Australia - Acting Commander

  • Overall management and leadership of AFP SA including the Aviation function for engagement with stakeholder agencies in the state
  • Key stakeholder in the South Australia Joint Management Group (JMG) and chair of the Joint Counter Terrorism Committee (JCTT)
  • Aligned business operations with corporate strategies, by collaborating with the Senior Executive in SAPOL as part of JMG in SA, to build AFP value in the Strategic Organised Crime Framework
  • I achieved the most significant jurisdictional result, improving business satisfaction from 70% to 100%
  • I led a team with a strategy and plan, leading to increased productivity of an underperforming area
  • I was the key driver of listening to stakeholders, acting on shortfalls in business satisfaction
  • As chair of SA Operations Committee, acted decisively to promote and use national proceeds legislation
  • This led to Operation Mellum resulting in seizure of cocaine worth $4.3 million dollars, confiscation of $1.7 million dollars of unexplained wealth including seizure of properties a luxury vehicle and $200K in illicit cash
