I was employed on the Bridgewater project as both Skipper and Rigger.
The job involved setting barges in place that would make up a temporary floating bridge that the main Bridge structure would then be built from.
I was the rigger on two 300-tonne Manitowoc cranes that we had set up on either side of the Derwent River.
We did general construction lifts as well as unloading of incoming and outgoing trucks and mobilising and setting up hat for drilling and piling operations.
I was also responsible for a 12-metre punt, I would ferry bridge workers and contractors to and from the barges, transport cargo and tools, and assist with setting barges in precise position with our workboat and a Jack up barge.
