Mickey Harriss

As a Stevedore, my job includes, but was not limited to:

• Assisting in the loading and unloading of cargo being handled at the DP World Brisbane terminal.
• Operating heavy vehicles to transport shipping containers around the wharf. (ITV and Straddles).
• Manual tasks: Work in teams to perform manual tasks such as lashing, twist locks, assisting in break bulk and workplace general duties.
• Driving light vehicles - I drive a manual, 12 seat light vehicle to transport personnel around the wharf.

As a fitter and Turner i was responsible for blueprints, plans and drawings to be able to construct, assemble, manufacture and fit parts of machines.

• I was also responsible for maintaining and repairing different types of machinery.
• Various Machining, Onsite Maintenance repairs and onsite installation services.
• 24/7 breakdown repairs/callout service
• General duties, workshop cleaning
