• Liaise with medical officers and members within the multidisciplinary team to discuss diagnose and devise well-coordinated treatment approaches.
• Performance of medical procedures such as ECG's, cardiac monitoring, vital signs, urinalysis, wound care, and administering of medications.

• Education to patients, families and caregivers on diagnosis and prognosis, treatment options, disease process, and management and lifestyle factors.

Peri-operative

• Conduction of patient admissions using a paper-based system.
• Completion of admission documents, following necessary pre-operative instructions according to policies and procedures, and Doctor’s preferences.
• Administration of peri-operative medication, adhering to the rights of medication administration.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures including surgeon’s specific requirements.
• Completion of risk assessments and development of appropriate plans of care.

Recovery/discharge lounge:

• Completion of patient assessments and documentation of nursing notes.
• Delivery of competent nursing care following general anaesthetic, sedation and local anaesthetic guidelines.
• Post-operative assessments on adult and paediatric patients.
• Constitution and administration of intravenous pain and anti-emetic protocols.
• Finalisation of a patient's episode of care, including PADDS scores and readiness for discharge
• Delivery of patient education post-operatively, including knowledge on processes for follow-up appointments and services available.
• Completion of follow-up phone calls.

Peri-operative

• Conduction of patient admissions using the iemr system and relevant admission documentation
• Administration and documentation of peri-operative medication utilizing the rights of medication administration.
• Knowledge of common surgical procedures in DSU/POSU and specific peri-operative requirements.
• Completion of risk assessments and appropriate plans of care using iemr.

Recovery/discharge lounge:

• Utilisation of WinChart for patient assessments and documentation of notes to retrieve and print anaesthetic reports.
• Performance of post-operative assessments/care on adult and paediatric patients.
• Constitution and administration of intravenous pain and anti-emetic protocols.
• Finalisation of a patient's episode of care, including PADDS scores and readiness for discharge
• Delivery of post-operative patient education, including knowledge on the hospital’s processes for follow-up appointments.
• Completion of follow-up phone calls.

POSU (Post-operative overnight surgical unit):

• Documentation of patient care and progress notes in ieMR.
• Completion and review of risk assessments, including plans of care for risks identified.
• Utilisation of trend care, including diet and patient activity.
• Conduction of pre- and post-op assessments and management, including neurovascular and neurological observations, and wound care.
• Knowledge of criteria led to discharge, and initiation of relevant referrals.

Older Persons Subacute Ward & Rehabilitation:

• Management of a patient load, including delegation of tasks to other members within the nursing team.
• Development of appropriate plans of care, including initiation of nursing assessments.
• Liaison with members of the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan implement and evaluate plans of care.
• Assessment and management of patients with dementia and delirium, and complex cognitive disorders and co-morbidities.
• Preparation and administration of oral, intravenous, subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
• Provision of end-of life care, including education and liaison with patient's families.
• Appropriate wound management.
• Effective time-management, assisting with activities of daily living and ADL's.
• Recognition of deterioration, initiation and active evolvement in MET calls.
• Completion of referrals, transfers, discharges and arrangement of appropriate services.
