As a Shift Manager
During my two-week work placement in the Gastroenterology ward at Perth Royal Hospital, I worked alongside registered and enrolled nurses to gain hands-on experience in a hospital environment. I assisted with a range of patient care tasks, including helping with medications under supervision, supporting basic care needs such as showering and bed baths, and changing linens. I also helped transport patients to and from different areas of the hospital. In addition, I carried out basic clinical observations, including taking blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature readings, and checking blood sugar levels. This placement helped me build confidence, develop practical skills, and better understand daily nursing routines and patient care standards.
