CEO

Coal Operations And Logistics
03.2013 - Current

February 2013 - Established Coal Operations and Logistics to train open cut mineworkers in Certificate 3 in Mine Emergency Response as well as provide skills maintenance for current competency holders. During this time I also worked for CQ Training Services at various mine sites including Millennium Mine, Jellinbah Mine and Minerva Mine. I also developed management plans, TARPS, Duty Cards and designed, risk assessed and implemented all emergency Level 2 and Level 4 scenarios at Millennium Mine since 2013. This also included final reports submitted to the Inspectorate.

December 2014 - Millennium Mine invited me to review and submit changes to the Emergency Response Code of Practice which was held in Peabody Corporate Office in Brisbane.

December 2015 - I paused COAL to pursue a career as Senior Trainer and then Operations Manager for QMRS.

March 2023 - Resumed COAL and am now currently based at Aquila Mine working as Emergency Response Coordinator, and in addition am providing training for Grosvenor and Commodore Mines. I am also training Paddington Gold Mine in Western Australia.

I also trained Grosvenor for their 5th Australian title and for the Underground Mines Rescue Competition.

With the current and increasing demand for my business, COAL is sourcing additional trainers to assist in developing and facilitating quality training for our clients.

2006 - I joined Queensland Mines Rescue Service and competed in all surface and underground mines rescue competitions. This included local, state, national and international levels with success across all. I captained the Crinum Team for 3 years until I was asked to join QMRS as a District Assessor which I accepted and thoroughly enjoyed. Throughout my time with Mines Rescue I have assisted in all competitions through training teams, assessing, and being a patient or assisting with set up. I have also volunteered my time to assist with new recruit training, vertical rope training, The Royal Flying Doctors Service scenarios and cleaning up of the rescue stations.

2007 to 2012 - I was part of the BMA Gregory Open Cut Mines Rescue Team. We competed in all mines competitions and the Resource Councils Mine Rescue Challenges. We won all events in its final year.

2014 - I travelled in my own time with Ray Smith from QMRS to New Zealand. We were invited by Worksafe New Zealand to assist them in the set up and assessing of their inaugural Mines Rescue Competition held at Newmont Waihi Gold Mine. It was great to see that our high standard of mines rescue procedures is recognised around the world as we were asked to guide them through their first one.

Coal Miner / Supervisor / Trainer Assessor

BMA Crinum Mine - I started as a permanent mine worker for BMA at its Gregory Crinum Underground operation. My first role at the mine was conveyor and outbye maintenance. This role had the responsibility of all coal clearance on site and included 1 x LW panel, 3 x development panels, and over 6 km of outbye belts. During my shifts I was responsible for all roller/structure change outs, belt install and retraction, servicing of all drive head installations, and full belt inspections.

Early 2006 - I moved to Development where I took part in standard gate road driveage for LW. During this time I was involved in the mining process of 4 gate roads,

4 install roads, 3 install road widenings, and stone driveage. I operated shuttle cars, LHD's, bolters (miner mounted and QDS), boot ends, and continuous miner

January 2008 - I joined the LW production. My intention was to experience all methods of mining before studying for my ERZ controller's ticket. Since starting on the LW I extracted 18 blocks of coal from both the Crinum East and Crinum North workings. I have all my tickets for LW equipment. I trained, assessed and supervised while on shift. Also in this time I had been involved in LW recovery many times and also involved in the first trial of a pre-driven recovery road.

May 2014 - I was asked to join the longwall bull gang to increase outbye production for better longwall continuity. Towards the end of 2015 I was given the opportunity to become the LW Relief Superintendent until the end of the mining lease.
