Mikey Yunupingu

Mikey Yunupingu is a kind, caring, and social 20-year-old Yolŋu man who is well-known and respected throughout his community and in Darwin. He is a hardworking young person who enjoys keeping active, learning new skills, and being part of a team.

Mikey brings a positive energy to every environment he enters. His warm and friendly nature makes him easy to work with, and he naturally builds strong relationships with staff, peers, and community members.

He has a deep love for music—especially Yolŋu music—and is a talented drummer and yidaki player. Mikey thrives in environments where he can stay busy, connect with people, and contribute in hands-on ways.

He currently lives in Supported Independent Living (SIL) accommodation in Zuccoli with another participant, and he is supported by his mother Janice in formal decision-making through a guardianship order.
