Summary

I have worked in the education industry for 24 years. I began my career following mt last practicum at a "hard to staff " school. Following my complpetion , they asked if I would stay on as a fixed term teacher. This was an extremely challenging, violent and chaotic environment, but also was extraordinarily rewarding. Here I was able to utilize my skills to ensure that all the children under my care were safe and encouraged to try their hardest, even when facing extreme challenges at home.

I developed very trusting professional relationships with the parents/carers and the children. This is essential in situations such as these, as behaviour of both students and parents was a huge priority.

I believe I managed to create a stimulating, safe and trusting environment, in which parents could be open with me and I could offer as much support as I could. This included drug and alcohol assistance, domestic violence, abuse, DCP involvement and safety procedures to not only protect myself but to also protect all children in my care. I was committed to provide a motivational and collaborative learning environment that encouraged social and emotional growth.

It was also essential that the staff supported each other during volitile and dangerous situations.

I believe that I am a dedicated and responsive professional with proven skills in classroom management, behavior modification, and individualized support. Comfortable working with students of different skill levels to promote learning and boost educational success. Serves as role model by using growth mindset to develop young minds and inspire love of learning.
